At PilatesX, we believe a great Pilates class isn’t about how many exercises you can fit into 50 minutes. It’s about choosing the right movements, teaching them well and giving your body time to understand and connect with each exercise. That’s why our classes are intentionally slower paced, classically focused and thoughtfully structured from beginning to end.
You’ll typically move through around 4 to 8 exercises in a PilatesX class. Rather than constantly changing from one exercise to the next, we give you the time to settle into each movement, understand the technique and really feel what your body is doing.
Each class has a clear focus and intention behind it. Our instructors carefully select exercises that work together, creating a class that feels cohesive rather than like a collection of unrelated movements. Whether the focus is on core connection, strength, mobility, control or a particular movement pattern, every exercise has a purpose.
Layering Makes Pilates Accessible to Everyone
One of the things that makes PilatesX different is the way we layer our classes. We start with the foundations of an exercise and then gradually build from there. You might begin with a simple movement pattern before adding resistance, range, tempo, balance or a more challenging variation. This means you can work at a level that feels appropriate for your body while still having the opportunity to challenge yourself as you become more confident.
Layering also means everyone can experience the same class together. Whether you’re new to Pilates or have been practising for years, there is an option for you. You can stay with the foundational movement or take the next layer when you’re ready.
Progressively More Challenging
Our classes are designed to build throughout the 50 minutes. Rather than starting at maximum intensity, we gradually increase the challenge as your body warms up and you become more familiar with the movements.
This might mean increasing resistance, adding complexity, working through a greater range of movement or challenging your control and stability. The aim isn’t simply to make an exercise harder for the sake of it, it’s to create meaningful progression while maintaining good technique.
A Full-Body Workout, Every Time
Although each class may have a particular focus, every PilatesX class is designed to work the whole body.
You’ll move through exercises that challenge your core, legs, glutes, arms and upper body, while also incorporating mobility, balance, coordination and control. We believe this balance is important because Pilates is about how the body works together, not isolating one muscle or body part. By the end of class, you should feel like your whole body has been worked, without feeling like you’ve simply been pushed through a high-intensity workout.
We’re proud to be a slower-paced, classically focused Pilates studio. We don’t believe you need to rush through exercises or constantly change movements to have an effective workout. Instead, we focus on quality over quantity. We give you time to learn, connect, control and progress. Our instructors are there to guide you through each layer and help you get more out of every movement.
